Here’s the trophy you’ve been working towards
With so much effort
For years.

Is this what you wanted?
A piece of dust-collecting metal
To sit on your shelf.

The unintentional gaze from a house guest
Can’t fill up the recognition and self worth
That was so desired.

A sculpted chunk of earth in lieu of friends
Community
Family
Self.
